Level Terrain Pipeline for Mobile
To use unity hand painted terrains in mobile devices without affecting performance I devised this pipeline
-
Create and hand paint a terrain with Unity Terrain tool
-
Using an external plug in to converted the terrain into FBX
-
Convert a second FBX with less polygon resolution for collision
-
Using an external plug-in to get a high resolution texture from the painted terrain
-
Export the FBX to Maya and slice it to use Occlusion Culling in engine
-
Adjust UV map using high resolution texture previously generated by the plug-in
-
Assemble back in Unity
